The format of a lesson

All lessons begin with an activity which reviews the learning from the previous lesson. This is then followed by the teaching of a new maths concept with increasingly challenging activities set for the child to develop and demonstrate their understanding. At the end of the lesson, there is a mental arithmetic exercise, a discussion about the progress that has been made, and the follow up activities to be completed!
